<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">

<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<h2 style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
</h2>
<h2 style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;">The one thing every Christian absolutely must understand about our common salvation is that salvation is by grace through faith, and not of works. This is summed up in <b>Ephesians 2:8-9</b>, which says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Let's break down this concept into bite-sized pieces, and look at each part individually.</span></h2>
<span style="font-size: large;"></span><br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<h2 style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<b><div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="font-size: x-large;">Salvation Is By Grace</span></b></div>
</b></h2>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Grace is specifically defined as a gift or a favor from God, given freely out of His goodness, despite our vile, undeserving nature. <b>Romans 5:8</b> says, “<i>But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.</i>” The reason any salvation is offered is because God decided to offer it as a gift to mankind.</div>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Man did nothing to deserve it or to obligate God in any way. Quite the opposite, in fact. Mankind, in his sinfulness, has driven God to wrath and is deserving only of Hell, but still God offers salvation. <b>Romans 3:23-24</b> sums this concept up nicely by saying, “<i>For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:</i>”</div>
</div>
<h2 style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;"><div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Salvation Is Through Faith</b></div>
</span></h2>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Faith is literally the hope and belief in things which you have not seen. <b>Hebrews 11:1</b> says, “<i>Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.</i>” As stated in this verse, faith is not only belief in the unseen, but also it is, in and of itself, a form of evidence for the existence of the fulfillment of things hoped for. We are told why this is true in <b>Hebrews 10:23</b>. “<i>Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)</i>”. The one we place our faith in is faithful toward us to deliver on his promises.</div>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Faith is how we receive Gods gift of salvation. It is the vessel that we receive God's grace through. We put our faith in the gift of God, that is, the work of the Cross. <b>Romans 5:14-18</b> tells us that, “<i>Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.</i>”</div>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;"><br />
</span></div>
</div>
<h2 style="margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="font-size: x-large;">Salvation Is Not By Good Works</span></b></h2>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Please understand that good works are our fruit. They are simply what behaviors we do as we walk through our lives. <b>Luke 6:45</b> show this clearly by saying, ”<i>A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.</i>”</div>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Salvation can't come from our good works because our good works are a physical manifestation of the Spirit of God in us that comes from salvation. <b>Luke 6:46</b> puts it plainly, saying, “<i>And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?</i>” This verse kinda states the obvious. If we call Christ our Lord, then consequently, we'll do the works he tells us to do.</div>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The belief that our good works are what saves us is to put the cart before the horse. Never mind that it nullifies several of the verses that have been previously quoted in this article. <b>Ephesians 2:9</b> is very clear, that salvation is “<i>Not of works, lest any man should boast.</i>” To believe otherwise is to obligate God, to put him in debt to you because of your percieved “goodness”. <b>Romans 4:4-5 says</b>, “<i>Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.</i>”</div>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Good works should naturally come from the heart of a Spirit-led believer. However, they are not, in any way, obligating God to reward us with salvation, because our wickedness and fallen nature will always outweigh any good we may do. <b>Isaiah 64:6</b> shows us clearly our wretched state. “<i>But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.</i>”</div>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<h2 style="margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="font-size: x-large;">Conclusion</span></b></h2>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Though the individual offices and operations of grace, faith, and works require some thinking through, it's easy to see the truth from scripture. The Bible makes it clear that our salvation is by grace through faith, and not of works.</div>

</li>
</ol>
<h4 style="text-align: center;">
Part 4: Notes</h4>
<ol>
<li><div style="text-align: justify;">
Jesus refers to himself as the good shepherd. This a contrast to the idol shepherd of Zechariah 11:17. Idol shepherd is one of the names given to the antichrist.</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: justify;">
A carnal way of thinking is a big problem for any Christian. Romans 8:6-7 says “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.” This way of thinking can be directly connected to serving one's flesh. Galatians 5:19-21 tells us what are the the works of the flesh.”Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: justify;">
Most people overlook the amount of times we are commanded to rebuke, reprove, and exhort using the Scripture. Luke 17:3 says “Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.” I Timothy 5: 20 says, “Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.” II Timothy 4:2 says, “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.” Also Titus 2:15 says, “These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.” These forms of correction have several uses among the Body of Christ. They help to keep people obeying Jesus' commandments. They make people take their salvation and relationship with God seriously, They keep the novice/unlearned/young Christians going in the straight gate and along the narrow way that leads to life. They prevent rampant hypocrisy from overtaking the assembly of the Body of Christ. Also they make sure every believer is setting the right example to the world and sinners. This is something everyone should take seriously. We are instructed to love our neighbor as ourselves. Sin leads to suffering, destruction, and death on both a spiritual and fleshly level. If you love your neighbor you will rebuke or reprove him.<br />

<h2 style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">In this study, we will examine the question, "What is rebuke?" by digging into the meaning behind the words used.</span></h2>

<h2 style="text-align: center;">
How Can We Determine What Is Rebuke?</h2>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Defining the Term</span></h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Let's first start by looking at the <a href="http://webstersdictionary1828.com/">Websters 1828 Dictionary</a> which tells us that rebuke is both a verb and a noun. It starts out by saying that rebuke as a verb means :<br />
<br /></div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><strong style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-size: 16px;">"1.</strong><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-size: 16px;"> To chide; to reprove; to reprehend for a fault; to check by reproof." </span></span></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">"<strong style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-size: 16px;">2.</strong><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-size: 16px;"> To check or restrain.</span><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-size: 16px;">"</span></span></blockquote>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><strong style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-size: 16px;">"3.</strong><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-size: 16px;"> To chasten; to punish; to afflict for correction."</span></span></blockquote>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So the act of rebuking is a way of punishing or reprimanding, but it also has a restraining element, which we will touch on more a bit later. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And now let's examine rebuke as a noun, again from Websters 1828 Dictionary. It is defined in one way as:</div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><strong style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-size: 16px; text-align: start;">"2.</strong><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-size: 16px;"> In Scripture, chastisement; punishment; affliction for the purpose of restraint and correction."</span></span></blockquote>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This definition, in a way, summarizes the three previous verb definitions, highlighting the purpose for rebuke that is often overlooked by those who do not understand it.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Understanding the Translation</span></h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt38kwAAEVnA9gJPqR3BZRIh3IQbSwdEL1iSpviFC6MqzuEa1AlPNvkO4tiR_2tmkcOsAfqJYtHaBz1PJ4fXYQitMNV1kkU3x2rJ8btj5Pqt2PROiL0TYdM2D2UGL7alyfZz6Ppt6p2E9i/s1600/Rebuke+Quote.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt38kwAAEVnA9gJPqR3BZRIh3IQbSwdEL1iSpviFC6MqzuEa1AlPNvkO4tiR_2tmkcOsAfqJYtHaBz1PJ4fXYQitMNV1kkU3x2rJ8btj5Pqt2PROiL0TYdM2D2UGL7alyfZz6Ppt6p2E9i/s320/Rebuke+Quote.jpg" width="320" /></a>Now we'll take a look at the scripture and examine the Greek and Hebrew meanings behind the translation. We'll start first with the Hebrew from the Old Testament, using Strong's Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The first Latinized Hebrew word behind rebuke is <i>y<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif;">â</span>kach,</i> <span title="yakach yaw-kahh' a primitive root; to be right (i.e. correct); reciprocal, to argue; causatively, to decide, justify or convict:--appoint, argue, chasten, convince, correct(-ion), daysman, dispute, judge, maintain, plead, reason (together), rebuke, reprove(-r), surely, in any wise."><b>H3198</b></span>, and it contains a list of definitions, each with a different nuance of meaning. Though <i>correction,</i> or rebuke, is the main meaning of this word, there is an element of meaning that indicates not only correcting the person who has adopted an incorrect belief but also arguing in favor of the keeping of truth. Reasoning in favor of the truth seems to be behind this word as much as correction itself. <span title="towkechah to-kay-khaw' and towkachath {to-kakh'-ath}; from 3198; chastisement; figuratively (by words) correction, refutation, proof (even in defence):--argument, X chastened, correction, reasoning, rebuke, reproof, X be (often) reproved."><b>H8433</b></span> and <span title="mig`ereth mig-eh'-reth from 1605; reproof (i.e. curse):--rebuke."><b>H4045</b></span> are connected to or stem from this word and its accompanying meanings.</div>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The next word is <i>g<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif;">â</span>'ar</i>, <span title="ga`ar gaw-ar' a primitive root; to chide:--corrupt, rebuke, reprove."><b>H1605</b></span>, and this word's primary meaning is reproof or the changing of the mind. This reinforces the idea that we must reason with someone when we are rebuking them. We must present the truth in its most logical and compelling way that our opponent has no other option but to concede to the truth or deny it outright. <span title="g`arah gheh-aw-raw' from 1605; a chiding:--rebuke(-ing), reproof."><b>H1606</b></span> and <span title="mig`ereth mig-eh'-reth from 1605; reproof (i.e. curse):--rebuke."><b>H4045</b></span> come from this word.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif;"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif;">Our final Hebrew word is <i>cherp</i></span><span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif;"><i>âh</i>, </span><span title="cherpah kher-paw' from 2778; contumely, disgrace, the pudenda:--rebuke, reproach(-fully), shame."><b>H2781</b>,</span> and it comes from <span title="charaph. khaw-raf' a primitive root; to pull off, i.e. (by implication) to expose (as by stripping); specifically, to betroth (as if a surrender); figuratively, to carp at, i.e. defame; denominative (from 2779) to spend the winter:--betroth, blaspheme, defy, jeopard, rail, reproach, upbraid."><b>H2778</b></span>, which references a stripping bare or revealing, and it makes the meaning of this word indicate that, when rebuking, we are revealing or laying bare the shame of sin. Rebuking has a shaming element to it.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Now we'll move on to the New Testament and have a look at the Latinized words from the Greek.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
First for the Greek is <i>epitima</i><span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif;"><i>ō</i>, </span><span title=" epitimao ep-ee-tee-mah'-o from 1909 and 5091; to tax upon, i.e. censure or admonish; by implication, forbid:--(straitly) charge, rebuke."><b>G2008</b></span>, which speaks about a censure of sin, telling us that rebuke is a forbidding or silencing of the sinful acts of man. This touches more on the restraining and preventative nature of rebuke.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Next is <span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif;"><i>epiplēssō</i>, </span><span title="ep-ee-place'-so from 1909 and 4141; to chastise, i.e. (with words) to upbraid:--rebuke."><b>G1969</b></span>, which talks about rebuke as an upbraiding or chastising. This shows us that the act of rebuking is done with a firm and chiding tone to properly portray the seriousness of the sin that is being rebuked.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif;"><br />
</span></div>
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif;"></span><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif;"><span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif;">Our final word is <i>elegchō</i>, </span><span title="el-eng'-kho of uncertain affinity; to confute, admonish:--convict, convince, tell a fault, rebuke, reprove."><b>G1651</b></span>, and it confirms to us that there should be a convincing aspect to rebuke, using evidence from the scriptures to disprove the validity of a sinful act.</span></div>
<br />
<br />
<h2 style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Conclusion: What is Rebuke?</span></h2>
<div>
<br /></div>
To put it simply, short and sweet, rebuke is... a strict, firm, chastising, and open response to the sinful act of a specific person or entity, using strong language to condemn the said act of wickedness.<br />
<br />
It is meant for the good of the sinner to draw them away from the hurtful misery of the deep and dark pit of sin, that they may not be able to see that they are in or are sliding into, It is done from a position of the love of God outpouring from the heart, mind, and lips of those who believe in the righteousness of God's judgment.<br />
<br />
It is meant to be used publicly, as in <span title="Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. "><b>I Timothy 5:20</b></span>, to prevent the advance of Satan's kingdom in the lives of men, by forbidding the works of the devil from reaching out from the sinner to all those around him. The sinner through his actions in serving Satan, is evangelizing all those he touches socially, mentally, and emotionally to come to the worldview of the devil, and is most likely totally ignorant of this fact.<br />
<br />
Though rebuke may bring a feeling of shame or humiliation to the sinner, it is a Godly shame meant to humble the sinner and soften his heart toward God. This, by no means, makes honest and Godly rebuke an unloving or hateful act, as many would claim.<br />
<br />
It is clear that rebuke is an important part of serving in the church of God, and in fulfilling the commands given to us in the New Covenant.<br />

They seem to enjoy this very thing that God condemns.</span><br />
<span style="font-weight: normal;"><br />
</span></div>
<span style="font-weight: normal;"> </span><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span title="He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot."><b><u>Proverbs 9:7</u></b></span> gives the impression that reproving a scornful person will bring their shame upon us. This is a behavior that tells us something. Simply put, a scorner despises the good judgment of the godly that is behind a wise reproof. He not only tries to shame a servant of God for reproof but also tries to shame God for His righteous and holy judgment. <span title="Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee."><b><u>Proverbs 9:8</u></b></span> and <span title="Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning"><b><u>Proverbs 9:9</u></b> </span>go further in saying that not only will a scorner put shame on godly correction, but he will go so far as to actually hate the person doing the correcting. These verses also begin comparing a scorner to a wise man, thus illustrating the utter foolishness of someone who scorns God's wise counsel.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span title="A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke."><br />
</span> <span title="A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke."><b><u>Proverbs 13:1</u></b> </span>again compares the scorner to the wise in order to illustrate his foolishness. It is said that he will not hear instruction. This doesn't indicate a deafness or inability on the part of the scorner, but rather a stubborn refusal to be corrected or instructed.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span title="A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth."><b><u><br />
</u></b></span> <span title="A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth."><b><u>Proverbs 14:6</u></b> </span>speaks about the lack of understanding in a scorner. If he seeks understanding, he won't find it, because of his refusal to hear any correction that could lead him to understand wisdom.</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span title="A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise."><b><u>Proverbs 15:12</u></b> </span>shows us again that there is hatred in the heart of a scornful person towards any who will attempt to overthrow his ungodly worldview by using a loving and godly correction. We're also given the impression in the last half of this verse that a scorner most definitely will not seek out the company of any wise person who may offer a change in his mindset or a differing viewpoint.</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
<span title="An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity."><b><u>Proverbs 19:28</u></b></span> demonstrates that it is judgment that a scorner is seeking to deride. He is labeled an ungodly witness and is likened to the wicked.<br />
<br /></div>
<span title="Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath."><b><u>Proverbs 21:24</u></b></span> tells us that scorners not only have the problem of the scornful mindset but that it is rooted in pride and haughtiness. A man is a scorner when he refuses to break his pride and concede to the wisdom of God and instead shows an open contempt or despising for wisdom.<br />
<br />
<span title="The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men."><b><u>Proverbs 24:9</u></b></span> brings to light the wickedness of even the thought of scorning the wisdom of God. Also stated is the fact that a scornful person in abominable to not only God but also his fellow man, due to a scorners tendency to refuse knowledge and correction leading to wisdom. If left unchecked, a scornful person will silence all sources of godly wisdom and knowledge in his vicinity, thus preventing all those around him from hearing the truth of God's word, which leads to salvation, and through that, eternal life.<br />
<br />
<h4 style="text-align: center;">
God's Judgment on Scorners </h4>
<div>
<b><u><br />
</u></b> <b><u><br />
</u></b></div>
<span title="Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools."><u><b>Proverbs 19:29</b></u></span> tells us that there is judgement in store for any who decide to take up a scornful attitude toward knowledge. He is likened to a fool who is awaiting stripes to his back.<br />
<br />
<span title="Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly."><b><u>Proverbs 3:34</u></b></span> gives us the understanding that God's scorn in upon those who scorn his wisdom. This verse also compares a scorner to the lowly, proving once again that scorning is rooted in sinful pride.<br />
<br />
<div>
<span title="For the terrible one is brought to nought, and the scorner is consumed, and all that watch for iniquity are cut off:"><b><u>Isaiah 29:20</u></b></span> shows us plainly that scorners are consumed and destroyed along with any other wicked person, proving that their sin is no less abhorrent to God.<br />
<br />
<span title="Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge."><b><u>Proverbs 19:25</u></b> </span>shows us that public rebuke is the only way to prevent others from taking up a scornful mindset. Again this verse likens the scornful to a simpleton and compares him to the wise, to illustrate his total and complete foolishness. <span title="When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge."><b><u>Proverbs 21:11</u></b></span> goes further along this line of teaching and ties in directly to the New Testament passage of <span title="Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear."><b><u>I Timothy 5:20</u></b></span> that makes it clear to rebuke sinners before the whole congregation to prevent their sin from spreading to any who are tempted or who may be too young in their walk to know better.<br />
<br />
In <span title="Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease"><b><u>Proverbs 22:10</u></b></span> we are instructed to remove an unrepentant scorner from the congregation when it becomes obvious that his entire intent is to cause strife or to bring reproach to the wise and godly members. This ties in neatly with <span title="And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican."><b><u>Matthew 18:17</u></b></span> where we are instructed to reject the stubbornly unrepentant from the congregation.<br />

After posting a link to my article, <a href="http://colossians1-10.blogspot.com/2015/03/the-atheist-and-their-stolen-morality.html" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;" target="_blank">The Atheist and Their Stolen Morality</a>, on the Christianity section on Reddit, an atheist took offense and posted an angry response. It was clear that he/she only had a superficial knowledge of the scriptures. This commenter was obviously angry with God, letting loose a barrage of blasphemous accusations.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">You can view the comments here:</span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I originally posted my response to the comment by <a href="http://www.reddit.com/user/YRM_DM" target="_blank">YRM_DM</a><i style="font-weight: bold;"> </i>on Reddit as a reply to the original remarks, but I decided to remove it. In 2 Timothy 2:16 it says, "But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness." I thought it would be best to post it here instead, where it would be less likely to engender more foul comments against the creator.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But the Bible also says in Proverbs 26:5, "Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Without further ado, here is my answer.</div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">
<i>"Believing that there isn't enough evidence to support belief in god and all the superstitious actions that go with, isn't a religion, it's a lack of any religion."</i></blockquote>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Atheism is a religion based on Dictionary.com's 2nd definition, "a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects:" So your argument is with Dictionary.com, not with me.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">
<i>"it's demonstrably beneficial to your own well being over a lifetime that you're a productive, reliable, safe, helpful member of society."</i></blockquote>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
While I agree with you that it is mutually beneficial to a society for everyone to have good morals, you still have the issue of how those morals arose in the first place. You have no naturalistic reason to make any differential between good and evil. What do the terms "good" and "evil" even mean? Without the historical biblical account you have absolutely no foundation on which to base your whole modern-day concepts of "good" and "evil".</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And if you have no foundation for defining good and evil, then you have no way of measuring what is beneficial or how it is beneficial to society. A belief in evolution is of no help in this area. William Provine, an evolutionist and Cornell University Professor was quoted saying, "No ultimate foundations for ethics exist, no ultimate meaning in life exists, and free will is merely a human myth."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We need God's holy and unchanging nature to set the standard for us.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">
<i>"I can, however, name hundreds of so-called pastors who steal from their flocks... what's Creflo Dollar doing these days?"</i></blockquote>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is a non-sequitor argument. Just because there are many hypocrites and false teachers gone out into the world doesn't disprove the idea that morality has no foundation without God. If anything, this proves the ugly nature in the heart of every man and demands a higher, more holy, and unchanging being to set the standard, and fulfills a clear Biblical teaching, lending credence to the notion that the standard comes from the Bible (as opposed to other religious teaching).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">
<i>"the possible good of the act might bring it slightly more into balance."</i></blockquote>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Again, this statement and the ones preceding it may be true, but without a higher being to set the standard, you have no foundation from which to decide whether it would be more balanced on the scale of good/evil.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">
<i>"God says murder is wrong, then orders people murdered"</i></blockquote>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
God is the designer and creator of mankind. It is his right to decide which of his creation should be removed from the world. He isn't guilty of murder by taking away life that he gave in the first place. It's his sovereign right to decide who lives and dies. He is the only one qualified to do so because of his holy and unchanging nature. If I built two mousetraps (or whatever) and one of them constantly snaps my fingers every time I reach for it, it's my sovereign right as creator of those mouse traps to smash the offending one to pieces. It isn't murder.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Furthermore, God showed great mercy many times over to all those he sentenced to death, allowing them to come to him in submission, (i.e. Rahab in Joshua's time who was spared for conceding to the God of Israel, and others) but mankind has chosen over and over again to harden their hearts against God like Pharaoh did in Moses' day. For more info on this, see the <i>Links</i> section at the end of this article.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">
<i>"If you only know murder is wrong because "God said so" in one part of his book, you are someone that scares me."</i></blockquote>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Actually, I knew murder was wrong because of my God-given conscience, long before I ever read God's word or came to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
God gave this same conscience to every man. That is why God holds men to such a high standard.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">
<i>"Most Christians do good because they can put themselves in another person's shoes. Not because Moses came down from a mountain and threw a fit, smashed a bunch of rules, then went back up and did it again."</i></blockquote>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
While this may be true for some people who profess Christianity, this kind of statement shows a lack of knowledge of the basic beliefs of orthodox, bible-believing Christians. The bible plainly teaches, "There is none righteous, no, not one" and as a Christian, I wholly believe this. Before I was saved, I had many opportunities to do good, many chances to show a shining example of goodness, but I didn't. Most human beings are self-serving. They have no reason to do good unless it serves them. And again this proves that we need a higher power to set the standard.</div>

<h2>
<span style="font-size: small;">Many people really enjoy the coming Easter celebrations. Many will take part in Lent, sunrise service, baking and eating the Easter ham, choosing a new suit or an Easter bonnet. There will be Easter egg hunts and Easter baskets full of those little yellow chick-peeps, chocolate eggs, jelly bean eggs, and of course a chocolate Easter bunny along with general eating and drinking and merry-making. This sounds totally harmless and for many, it holds some fond memories that they are eager to pass on to their children.</span></h2>
<h2>
<span style="font-size: small;"><br />
But did you ever stop to think, what do any of these things have to do with God, Jesus Christ, the crucifixion, the resurrection, or God's Word?<br />

<h2>
<span style="font-size: small;">I challenge you, where is the New Testament precedent for such a massive day of feasting?</span></h2>

False Teaching #1: Easter replaces Passover</h2>
<div align="JUSTIFY">
Many teach that Easter is necessary for the remembrance of the crucifixion and the resurrection, but this simply proves that Easter is a devilish usurper. Passover is given to us to remember the crucifixion and celebrate the Lord's sacrifice, as laid out in the New Testament.<br />

*If you're about to quote to me Acts 12:4, you can save yourself the trouble. The King James Bible translates <i>pascha</i> as Easter and <b>NOT as Passover</b> because Herod was not, I repeat, was not a Jew. He <b>would not have kept Passover</b>. Point of fact, he would have despised Passover, considering he had John the Baptist beheaded because John quoted Jewish Law to him concerning his brother's wife. Why would he want anything to do with God's laws concerning Passover? Herod would have kept the ancient equivalent of the festival of the spring goddess that you and I refer to as Easter, the same as every other Roman in the Empire. <i>(For more info on the pagan origins of individual Easter traditions, see the links and videos sections at the end of this article.)</i><br />

We are plainly instructed not to attempt to worship God using pagan altars or high places, not in their groves or under their green trees <i>(ahem... Christmas trees?)</i>, and not using their graven images, statuary, or symbols. We are told plainly in the <span data-mce-style="text-decoration: underline;" style="text-decoration: underline;">Deuteronomy 12:8</span> passage that <b>we cannot draw our own conclusions</b> concerning this subject and do what is right in our own eyes.<br />

False Teaching #3: It's okay to observe Easter because it is a long-standing tradition.</h2>

Jesus makes it plain that people reject the commands of God in favor of their traditions, which is exactly what wicked man is doing when he tells you that you can ignore God's warnings concerning idolatry and dabble in idol worship just because everyone else in your congregation/job/personal life is doing it. Easter is a perfect example of verse six in this passage. Claiming Easter is for God <b>(honoring him with your lips)</b> while your heart is set on feasting on the Easter ham (<i>in celebration of Tammuz</i>) and finding the “blessed” Ishtar <i>(pronounced ees-ter)</i> egg, having “sunrise” service <i>(in honor of the sun god)</i>, and wearing the Easter “bonnets” of the priestesses of Ishtar <b>(your heart is far from him)</b>. People have made the word of God concerning idols of none effect because of their tradition of keeping idolatrous pagan observances.<br />

This begs the question, <b>"What was the leaven of Herod?"</b><br />
<br />
In this case Jesus was using leaven to refer to sin. What were the sins of Herod mentioned specifically in the Bible? We know he was <b>murderer</b> because he killed John the Baptist and James. We know he was a <b>fornicator</b> because of the situation with his brother Philip's wife. We know he <b>hated the brethren</b>, because the Bible says he set out to vex certain people in the church. We know he was a <b>false accuser</b> because he arrested Peter for no reason. We know he was a <b>hypocrite</b> who did things to be seen of men because he arrested Peter just to please the Jews and killed John to please Herodias. And we know he was an <b>idol worshiper</b> because the Bible speaks of his intention to keep Easter before turning Peter over to the people.<br />
<br />
<b>*Acts 12:1-4</b> Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to <b>vex certain of the church</b>. And he <b>killed James</b> the brother of John with the sword. A Christian reading this has two possible routes. One could go on as if they were never warned, as if they were never given the information, but be warned. One day, maybe today or maybe next week or maybe at the judgment, you will have to answer to God for continually exposing yourself and your family to these wicked and forbidden practices. Or one could give heed to God's word, repent quickly and fervently, abandon the vain and abominable traditions of man, and walk in holiness according to the Bible as God commands.<strong><br />

Jeremiah 17:9 says, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">An obvious atheist took offense and let loose with a barrage of false accusations against God, <i>non-sequitor</i> logical fallacies, and an evidently bitter hatred for God. Never mind the very subtly implied <i>ad hominem</i> attack that I was a brainless robot because I choose to obey the word of God.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">One contributor, though understanding some of the arguments I made, showed a plain lack of scriptural knowledge about God's stance towards a self-righteous, unrepentant denier of God.</span></div>

<b><b><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><i>"It is also needlessly antagonistic (stolen morality? really?). So I don't think it is an effective strategy nor a terribly helpful counter to atheist worldviews."</i> Reddit User: <a href="http://www.reddit.com/user/WalkingHumble" target="_blank">WalkingHumble</a></span></b></b></div>

</span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I stand by the statement that an atheist is stealing morality from God. If a man breaks into your house to "borrow" your gun, only to turn around and try to shoot you with it, you wouldn't call that borrowing. In the same way, an atheist who "borrows" God's moral standards, only to turn around and try to defeat God, is stealing, not borrowing. A friend borrows, an enemy steals, generally speaking. If nothing else makes him an enemy of God, then it is his insistent denial of God while still enjoying the goodness of God.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br />
</span></div>
<div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The Bible says in Psalm 14:1, "...The fool hath said in his heart,There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good." And again in Psalm 53:1, it is repeated, "...The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good."</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br />
</span> <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">"Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be." it says in Romans 8:7. And in Colossians 1:21 it says, "And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled" and in Romans 5:10, "For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life."</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br />
</span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">This is a plain teaching of God's scripture. If you choose not to believe this, then you don't serve the God of the Bible, you've instead made a god in your own image and are turned to idols. You need to repent.</span></b></div>

You do not realize it, that he is so holy as he is; that he has such a hatred of sin as indeed he has; that he is so just a God as he is, who will by no means clear the guilty. But that in the Psalms is applicable to you: “these things hast thou done, and I kept silence: thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself,” Psalm 50:21. So that your atheism appears in this, as well as in thinking there is no God. So that your objection arises from this, that you do not find such a sensible hatred against that god which you have formed, to suit yourself; a god that you like better than the true God. But this is no argument that you have not bitter enmity against the true God; for it was your enmity against the true God, and your not liking him, that has put you upon forming up another in your imagination, that you like better. It is your enmity against those attributes of God’s holiness and justice, and the like, that has put you upon conceiting another, who is not so holy as he is, and does not hate sin so much, and will not be so strictly just in punishing it; and whose wrath against sin is not so terrible." </span><i><span style="text-indent: 28.7999992370605px;">Jonathan Edwards, Sermon: Men Naturally Are God's Enemies, 1736</span></i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">An atheist is a lost man, a natural man, unrepentant and without the Holy Spirit, and just like every other wicked sinner, he is an enemy of God while still in this natural state and headed for the lake of fire. If he is offended by the truth, then that's his problem, an unbelief in his heart that he needs to work out with God. Besides, it seems lately that many unbelievers are easily antagonized. Just the name of Christ sets some men off.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; text-indent: 28.7999992370605px;">"Man has naturally a principle of atheism in him; an indisposition to realize God’s being, and a disposition to doubt of it. The being of God does not ordinarily seem real to natural men. All the discoveries that there are of God’s being in his works, will not overcome the principle of atheism in the heart. And though they seem in some measure to be rationally convinced, yet it does not appear real; the conviction is faint. There is no strong conviction impressed on the mind that there is a God. And oftentimes they are ready to think that there is none. Now this will prevent the exercise of this enmity, which otherwise would be felt; particularly, it may be an occasion of there not being sensible exercises of hatred." <i>Jonathan Edwards, Sermon: Men Naturally Are God's Enemies, 1736</i></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">To the average Christian, atheism can seem like an impossible worldview to counter. But like any false religion, it has cracks and weak points if you know where to look.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Let's look today at the issue of morality and its source and foundation in our worldview.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Have you ever asked yourself, "Why is that wrong?" in reference to something that your conscience knows for certain </span><i style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">is</i><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> wrong, but your mind can't quite decide why it is or should be wrong?</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Lets look at murder, for example. Why is murder wrong? Who decides that murder is wrong? Is it just my opinion? Is it the opinion of the majority of voters who made the laws against it? What if the majority of people think that it isn't wrong to commit murder? Does that mean that it </span><i style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">really</i><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> isn't wrong?</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">If you follow this line of thinking, the dilemma becomes clear. If right and wrong is only someone's opinion, then someone else can easily come through and overthrow that opinion.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">To put this in clearer terms, lets say that you have a large sum of money in your wallet and a man, who we will call Bill, steals your money. You would cry foul immediately. How dare he steal your money, because, of course, you know it is wrong to steal.</span></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">But Bill is an atheist. To his thinking, there is no God, therefore no consequences. To his mind, stealing is not a sin, because morals are relative and if you say that stealing is wrong, why, that's just your opinion. And to his opinion, which is just as good as yours, taking whatever he wants from whomever he wants suits him just fine.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to say that all atheists are rampant criminals. I believe quite the opposite, in fact. I'm certain that most atheists mind the traffic laws, don't steal, wouldn't cheat on their wives, love their children dearly, and partake of humanitarian causes.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">My only problem with this is that they have no foundation for having such high moral ethics in their atheistic worldview.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">So back to the question: Why is murder wrong?</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Answer: Because God says so in his word.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Man didn't make this decree. God Almighty did in the 10 Commandments in Exodus 20:13 "Thou shalt not kill." This moral standard that all mankind observes comes from the sovereign hand of the Creator God of the Bible.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">You can see how this would be a problem for an atheist.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Of course he doesn't want someone to steal from him, tell lies about him, or try to kill him. Of course he expects his wife to be faithful and his children to obey him. And rightly so. But he cannot expect these things and be a consistent atheist.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">He is sinning against his own worldview by borrowing morals from God, the God he doesn't believe in, every day of his life, so that he can lead a comfortable and ordered existence.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Because it is God who gave us the 10 Commandments that say, "Thou shalt not steal."</span><i style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">(Exodus 20:15)</i><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour." </span><i style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">(Exodus 20:16)</i><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> "Thou shalt not kill."</span><i style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> (Exodus 20:13)</i><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> "Thou shalt not commit adultery." </span><i style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">(Exodus 20:14)</i><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> "Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee." </span><i style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">(Exodus 20:12)</i></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">For a Christian, it is perfectly logical for me to expect that if God has given these commands, then there are consequences for disobeying them. But for someone to claim there is no God, only to steal morality from God, it is irrational, illogical, and I'd say, quite hypocritical.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------</span></b></div>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The Bottom Line</span></b></div>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The Bible never attempts to prove the existence of God. In fact it is made plain that the evidence of God is so obvious by looking at the creation that all men are without excuse.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:" </span><i style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">(Romans 1:18-20)</i></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"></span><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">It is clearly stated that men hold or <i>suppress</i> the truth of God in unrighteousness.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">
</span>
<br />
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">"Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,"</span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">(Romans 1:21-22)</span></i></div>
</div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The holy scriptures make it clear that every man knows of the existence of God but they refuse to glorify him as God because then they would be accountable to him for their sin.</span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">"And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them." <i>(Romans 1:28-32)</i></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">If you are an atheist, please understand that God can see into your heart, he can hear your most secret thoughts and desires. He knows your sins. You are hiding nothing from him.</span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings." <i>(Jeremiah 17:9-10)</i></span></div>
</div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">But it is up to you to admit that you are a sinner. You and I both know that most people have broken every one of the commandments mentioned above, and I'm sure you are no different.</span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>

</div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></i></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Because all have sinned, all men are in need of a savior. We cannot get to heaven on our own merit.</span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div>

</div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span></i></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">We must repent of our sins and believe in Jesus Christ.</span></div>

<br />
A florist and owner of Arlene's Flowers from Richland, Washington, Barronelle Stutzman, took a stand against the abomination of sodomy when she refused to make a floral arrangement for a sodomite "marriage". And now her livelihood is being threatened in the courts by the radical left.<br />
<br />
You can view the article by Samuel Smith, a Christian Post reporter, here:<br />
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;"><a href="http://www.christianpost.com/news/florist-who-refused-gay-wedding-offered-settlement-i-will-not-be-like-judas-betray-jesus-for-money-she-replied-134593/" target="_blank">http://www.christianpost.com/news/florist-who-refused-gay-wedding-offered-settlement-i-will-not-be-like-judas-betray-jesus-for-money-she-replied-134593/</a></span><br />
<br />
One comment to the article stated that "<em>Bigotry coated in religion is still bigotry. Would Jesus turn away a same sex couple? No, he would not. She will be judged when it is her time and she has turned her back on the Lord.</em>"<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace; font-size: xx-small;"> QUOTE - <a href="http://friend.christianpost.com/people/joel-butler/" target="_blank">CP FRIEND, JOEL BUTLER</a></span><br />
<br />
I don't know what Jesus this guy is referring to, but it isn't the Jesus of the Bible. Jesus made it plain in his word that "<em>Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination." (Leviticus 18:22)</em> God the Son also makes it plain that we can't socialize<b> even with one of the brethren</b> who fornicates. "<em>But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator...with such an one no not to eat."</em> <i>(I Corinthians 5:11)</i><br />
<br />
It gave me joy to see this woman doing what we all should do, <b>standing unwavering in the face of persecution</b> to the glory of Jesus Christ. We should pray for her and pass on her story.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
What's more, the radical left hypocrites are actually, themselves, in violation of Washington state law which plainly states "<em>Absolute freedom of conscience in all matters of religious sentiment, belief and worship, shall be guaranteed to every individual, and no one shall be molested or disturbed in person or property on account of religion;"</em> quoted from the Washington State Legislature website:<br />
<div>
<a href="http://leg.wa.gov/LawsAndAgencyRules/pages/constitution.aspx" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace;">http://leg.wa.gov/LawsAndAgencyRules/pages/constitution.aspx </span></a><br />
<div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I guess when you live in a world where your morality is relative and not regulated by a sovereign God, you can just pick and choose which laws you want to observe. In fact, we already have a word that describes laws made without absolute authority: <b>OPINION</b>. And that's not what we should base our legal system on.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The left-wingers never fail to be creative with their interpretation of the law. I mean, <b>what next?</b></div>
</div>

<a name='more'></a><br />
</div><div style="font-size: medium; font-weight: normal; text-align: justify;">Thanks to the theory of evolution, man is worth no more than a bug or a cow or a dog, in our world. When he dies, it's no more shocking to those in-charge than a pod of whales beaching themselves or the killing of so many chickens in a factory farm, and sometimes even less so.We get the sense that people don't care about us... the government, the media, Wall Street... especially as Christians, but does that mean they can deprive us of the things we need? We see earthquakes, tsunamis, disease, persecution, and the threat of nuclear war closing in.<br />
<br />
Do we have cause to fear? Will this stop God's blessings from shining upon us? Will the fulfilling of God's promises be hindered?</div><div style="font-size: medium; font-weight: normal; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="font-size: medium; font-weight: normal; text-align: justify;">The Bible tells us plainly in <span title="Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. "><b>Luke 12:6-7</b></span> just how valuable we are in God's sight. It should comfort us to know that God sees everything and can see all of our fears and hurts.</div><div style="font-size: medium; font-weight: normal; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="font-size: medium; font-weight: normal; text-align: justify;">We know from <span title="For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now."><b>Romans 8:22</b></span> that the entire creation... the rocks, the trees, the animals, the stars... all of it, is miserably groaning to be released from the curse of sin, suffering, and death. God knows this and his Holy Spirit, as laid out in <span title="Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God."><b>Romans 8:26-27</b></span>, intercedes before God on our behalf, to say those things that are too painful, too secret, or too unspeakable for us to even say.</div><div style="font-size: medium; font-weight: normal; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="font-size: medium; font-weight: normal; text-align: justify;">God is working in the background to make all things, that is... <i>ALL things</i>... work together for the good of his servants, according to <span title="And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."><b>Romans 8:28</b></span>.</div><div style="font-size: medium; font-weight: normal; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="font-size: medium; font-weight: normal; text-align: justify;">And also, we are told, in <span title="For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."><b>Jeremiah 29:11,</b></span> that God wants us to be able to expect what kind of end that all matter will come to. When we see these things happening around us, we need to remind ourselves that nothing surprises God. There is no secret evil waiting to ambush us that God has not already seen and is already working it for the good of his children.</div><div style="font-size: medium; font-weight: normal; text-align: justify;"><br />

We all have that small business we've been meaning to start, or that goal of finishing school, or a nagging need to travel across Europe, or big plans to start a mission overseas. [<i>Insert your long wished-for dream here</i>]. Then family, or work, or just life in general “gets in the way”.</div></div><div style="font-size: medium; font-weight: normal;"><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div></div><div style="font-size: medium; font-weight: normal;"><div style="text-align: justify;">We think to ourselves, “I want this so bad. It's all I've ever wanted. Why is God punishing me this way?”</div></div><div style="font-size: medium; font-weight: normal;"><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div></div><div style="font-size: medium;"><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">The Word makes clear in </span><span title="Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.">James 4:13-15</span><span style="font-weight: normal;"> that we need to remember to make plans only as they can be fit into God's will. There needs to be a flexibility in our thinking that allows for the possibility that our plans may not be a part of God's will for us, and whatever God's will is, it will be better for our life and well-being than our own plans could ever be.</span></div></div><div style="font-size: medium; font-weight: normal;"><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div></div><div style="font-size: medium;"><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">We simply do no know where our ambitions may lead us. We could be led, of our own desperately wicked heart, as spoken of in </span><span title="The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?">Jeremiah 17:9</span><span style="font-weight: normal;">, straight into all kinds of temptation. Even a noble ambition could lead us into pride. We could be in the wrong place at the wrong time to speak God's Word to a man who is to be saved, but because we disobeyed God's will, that opportunity was lost for us. That is why we must submit ourselves to God's will. Think of the infinite number of possibilities that each path holds before you try to walk down it. Those infinite possibilities could be an infinite amount of mistakes. Let all-knowing, all-seeing, all-powerful God lead you where you need to go. After all, wouldn't his plan for you bring Him the most glory and bring you into his service as He sees fit?</span></div></div></h2><h3 style="text-align: center;"></h3><h2><b><span style="font-size: large;">We rely on man's opinions rather than God's Word.</span></b></h2><div style="text-align: justify;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0HPw0wo6UOXAh5Eka3rr3PYcahiuJ1HJI0Qoj6CdNMrvg-ia_mGwUKRzT55BtwHjZ95fCuYXcibTQIR6BgJ0gGNZFg7OleTq_90K7-L_2wsKXRLUoVgzRVGsmw38oWnWHj0GzKrcmbMgh/s1600/Fables+Quote.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="248" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0HPw0wo6UOXAh5Eka3rr3PYcahiuJ1HJI0Qoj6CdNMrvg-ia_mGwUKRzT55BtwHjZ95fCuYXcibTQIR6BgJ0gGNZFg7OleTq_90K7-L_2wsKXRLUoVgzRVGsmw38oWnWHj0GzKrcmbMgh/s400/Fables+Quote.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>If you've ever watched the Discovery Channel, you know that the modern world is chock-full of man's opinions and assumptions on how God's creation works. Some scientists believe that they have completely overthrown even the idea of God, with their theory of evolution. But I say to you, consider this: Sir Arthur Keith, the man who wrote the foreword to the 100th anniversary of Charles Darwin's book, Origin of the Species, stated plainly,</div><blockquote class="tr_bq"><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>“Evolution is unproved and unprovable. We believe it only because the only alternative is special creation which is unthinkable.” Now, that sounds a lot like the dogmatic belief in an anti-God mythology that evolution-ism actually is, and a lot less like the “proven fact of science” that popular media would have you believe.</i></div></blockquote><div style="text-align: justify;">This is a telling thing. Mr. Keith only believes in evolution because the idea of God creating the universe is "unthinkable" to him. He doesn't believe it because of any scientific evidence. Consider a few more of these statements by evolutionists about the so-called "proven fact" of evolution:</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><blockquote class="tr_bq"><div style="text-align: justify;"><i>"Evolutionism is a fairy tale for grown-ups. This theory has helped nothing in the progress of science. It is useless," </i>(Professor Louis Bouroune, former President of the Biological Society of Strasbourg and Director of the Strasbourg Zoological Museum, later Director of Research at the French National Centre of Scientific Research, as quoted in The Advocate, March 8, 1984.)</div></blockquote><div style="text-align: justify;">It's a pretty big statement for an evolutionist to say that evolution is a fairy tale for grown-ups, but it isn't surprising. In <span title="And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. "><b>I Timothy 4:4</b></span> we are told plainly that many will turn to fables instead of the truth. Why believe in fables when God has offered us the Gospel truth?</div><blockquote class="tr_bq"><i>“It is obvious that radiometric techniques may not be the absolute dating methods that they are claimed to be. Age estimates on a given geological stratum by different radiometric methods are often quite different (sometimes by hundreds of millions of years). There is no absolutely reliable long-term radiological ‘clock.' The uncertainties inherent in radiometric dating are disturbing to geologist and evolutionists...”</i> (W.D. Stansfield, Ph.D., Instructor of Biology, California Polytech State University, The Science of Evolution, Macmillan, 1987.)</blockquote><br />
There are many more statements just like these by evolutionists if you take the time to Google it.<br />
<br />
We are told in <span title="O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:">I Timothy 6:20</span> to avoid these oppositions of false science. And yet this "science so falsely called" is behind the government policies we vote for, the medical theories and concepts that we use to treat our illnesses, and the public school doctrines that drive our children away from scripture.<br />
<br />
It's not shocking to me in any way that man hasn't caught up with God in terms of knowledge. We <i>NEVER</i> will! So, I wouldn't let man's opinions shake your faith in God or your belief in the accuracy and historicity of scripture. Most of them aren't worth the time it took to make them.<br />
